Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our telehealth services.

What is telehealth?

Telehealth allows you to see a doctor through a secure video consultation from the comfort of your home. You receive the same quality care as an in-person visit—including diagnosis, treatment, and prescriptions.

How much does a visit cost?

Our visits start at just $49.99. We offer transparent pricing with no hidden fees. No insurance is needed, though you're welcome to submit receipts to your insurance for potential reimbursement.

Do I need insurance?

No. We operate on a direct-pay model so you never have to deal with insurance hassles. You pay a straightforward fee for each visit.

Is Trinity Family Medicine considered Direct Primary Care (DPC)?

We operate on a Direct-Pay (A La Carte) model, which offers the same high-access benefits of DPC without the monthly commitment. You get the benefit of a Board-Certified Texas Physician with transparent, upfront pricing, ensuring "continuity of care" without a long-term contract. We are working on a subscription model as well for those that prefer.

How do I schedule an appointment?

Click the "Start Your Visit" or "Book Consultation" button on our website, choose your physician, pick a time that works for you, and connect from any device—phone, tablet, or computer.

Can I choose my own doctor?

Absolutely. Experience true continuity of care by seeing the same provider at every visit, eliminating the need to repeat your medical history.

What conditions can you treat via telehealth?

We treat a wide range of conditions including cold & flu, allergies, sinus issues, minor infections, rashes/skin issues, UTIs, mental health concerns, ADHD, pain management, chronic disease management, weight loss, hormone replacement and more. If your condition requires in-person care, we'll let you know.

What conditions are you unable to treat via telehealth?

There are certain conditions that require hands-on examination or in-person care, such as emergencies, severe injuries, conditions requiring imaging, and situations where a physical exam is essential for diagnosis. If your condition falls outside the scope of telehealth, we'll guide you to the appropriate in-person care. If we are unable to treat your condition you may be refunded for the visit.

Is Trinity Family Medicine a legitimate, certified telehealth provider?

Yes. Trinity Family Medicine is LegitScript-certified, an independent verification recognized by Google, Meta, and Bing that confirms our compliance with applicable healthcare laws, regulations, and licensing requirements. Our physicians are board-certified in Family Medicine and licensed by the Texas Medical Board (Dr. Casey Dean, License #T3065, NPI 1134744824; Dr. Kathryn Kline, License #T3117, NPI 1821613514). You can verify our certification at legitscript.com and our physician licenses at the Texas Medical Board (profile.tmb.state.tx.us) and NPI Registry (npiregistry.cms.hhs.gov).

Is my information secure?

Yes. Our platform is fully HIPAA-compliant with end-to-end encryption for all consultations, ensuring your health information stays private and protected.

Do you accept insurance?

We are a self-pay practice and do not bill insurance directly. However, our transparent pricing often costs less than an insured visit with copays and deductibles. You're welcome to submit your receipt (superbill) to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards. Payment is collected after your visit. There are no hidden fees, surprise bills, or additional charges after your visit.

Can I use my HSA or FSA for my visit?

Yes. All Trinity Family Medicine telehealth visits and physician-ordered lab tests are HSA (Health Savings Account) and FSA (Flexible Spending Account) eligible expenses. We can also provide an itemized receipt (Superbill) with all necessary ICD-10 and CPT codes to ensure your insurance reimbursement process is seamless.

Can you prescribe medications?

Yes. Our physicians can prescribe most medications, including antibiotics, blood pressure medications, mental health medications, and more. Prescriptions are sent electronically to the pharmacy of your choice. Controlled substances (such as ADHD medications) require an initial evaluation and are subject to state and federal prescribing guidelines.

Can you prescribe controlled substances?

Yes, we can prescribe certain controlled substances such as ADHD medications after a thorough evaluation. These prescriptions require regular follow-up appointments (typically every 1–3 months) and are managed in compliance with Texas Medical Board and DEA regulations.

Which Texas pharmacies can you send prescriptions to?

We transmit prescriptions electronically to any licensed pharmacy in Texas. This includes major retailers like H-E-B Pharmacy, CVS, Walgreens, and Walmart, as well as local compounding pharmacies in the DFW, Houston, and Austin areas.

What happens if telehealth isn't appropriate for my condition?

If during your visit the physician determines that your condition requires an in-person examination, imaging, or lab work that cannot be managed remotely, they will let you know and can provide a referral to a local provider or facility. If we are unable to treat your condition, you may be eligible for a refund.

Can I get a refill on my existing medication?

Yes. If you have an existing prescription that needs to be refilled, our physicians can review your history and renew it during a telehealth visit. Non-controlled medication refills start at $49.99. Please have your current medication list and pharmacy information ready.

What if I need lab work or imaging?

Our physicians can order lab work and imaging as needed. We'll send the order to a lab or imaging center near you (such as Quest Diagnostics or Labcorp). You'll complete the testing locally, and your physician will review the results with you at a follow-up visit.

How do I get labs done if I'm using a virtual doctor?

We use a "Local-First" diagnostic model. Your physician sends a digital order to the nearest Quest Diagnostics or Labcorp facility. Once your blood work or imaging is processed, the results are uploaded directly to our secure Patient Portal for review during your follow-up.

Do you provide a Good Faith Estimate?

Yes. Under federal law, self-pay patients have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges. Our standard pricing is listed on our Services page, and a detailed estimate is available on our Privacy & Legal page under the No Surprises Act section.

What do I need for my telehealth visit?

All you need is a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone, plus a stable internet connection. Find a quiet, well-lit, private space for your visit. Have your photo ID, current medication list, and preferred pharmacy information ready.

How long does a visit take?

Most Trinity Family Medicine telehealth visits last 15–20 minutes, depending on the clinical complexity of your case. Unlike traditional clinics, we prioritize a "No-Rush" policy, ensuring all patient concerns regarding metabolic health, chronic management, or acute illness are addressed.

Are you available on weekends or after hours?

We offer flexible scheduling including evening and weekend availability to accommodate your busy life. Check our booking page for the most up-to-date available time slots.

What if I have a technical issue during my visit?

If you experience a technical issue such as a dropped connection or audio/video problems, don't worry—your provider will attempt to reconnect with you. If the issue persists, we'll reach out to reschedule at no additional charge. You can also contact us for support.

Can I get a doctor's note or medical records?

Yes. Our physicians can provide doctor's notes for work or school upon request during your visit. You can also request your medical records at any time by contacting our office.

Do you treat children?

Yes we treat all ages. For pediatric care there will need to be a parent or legal guardian present for visits. If a child is accompanied by a grandparent, nanny, or other adult, they must bring a signed, written authorization form from the parent/legal guardian. We are unable to treat without guardian consent.

Fees are waived for extenuating circumstances—for example, if you're cancelling because you're more acutely ill and need ER care.

Do I need to be in Texas for my visit?
